International Literacy Day 2025. International literacy day takes place on 8th september each year. The international literacy day (ild) is celebrated every year on 8 september to draw attention to improvements in world literacy rates.

The day was proclaimed by unesco on november 17, 1965 and first celebrated in 1966. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness of literacy issues faced by people all over the world and to endorse campaigns that help increase literacy.
